VHDPA and Surfboards - Does Section 1300 of the Copyright Code Allow for Registration of Surfboard Designs

The Vessel Hull Design Protection Act (VHDPA) provides design
protection for boat hulls. The author of the memorandum believes that
the design protection should be read to encompass protection for
surfboards.

The future landscape for digital distribution of music is uncertain. In recent years, the major record labels, with the aid of the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) have attempted to bottle up peer-to-peer (P2P) networks in order to disable illicit file sharing and copyright infringement of protected works. Although the RIAA and the major labels have pursued legitimate channels for consumers to purchase and download music files, it seems as though their attempt to cash in has been too little and too late. In fact, it has been over two years since the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals issued its decision in A&M Records, Inc. v. Napster, Inc., yet there remains no adequate venue for consumers to legally download music.
